Students at Hobart College have become some of the first Tasmanians to be immunised against the main cause of cervical cancer.
The federally funded program is providing free vaccinations for the human papilloma virus to women aged between 12 and 26.
Grade twelve student, Ebony Mather, says it's well worth the discomfort of having three injections.
"Well its not the most pleasant thing because I have a bit of a phobia of needles," Ms Mather said.
"But I know in the long run it's certainly going to be worth it and like I think everyone should get it," she said.
